Depending on the loco, there often isn't room in the cab if there's RC servos in there as well. In my own case, driving manually I've got to get very over scale fingers in there, so "guilty me Lud".

Well Tom I love it with our without a driver, but I do get Peter’s point and I don’t think he was pointing any fingers, just making an observation about others.

Cracking viewing but you call that snow...we have huge 3 inch drifts! The wind has been, and still is, a bone chiller so credit to you for getting out there.

Hopefully with winter far behind us on the RWLR we can start to resume evening and weekend running.

I wish the leaves in my garden were so well behaved. They just won't stay still for a photo to be taken.
Or are you using some mysterious Leaf Glue ?????????.......

Don’t have any leaves yet, they went in the gales we had a few weeks ago.

I use mind control to keep the leaves in position although I have not mastered keeping them attached to the actual tree which is my ultimate goal.

I believe summer has finally arrived in my part of the UK so here are some sunshine shots I took over the weekend:

Bit of sunshine does get the juices flowing, did some weeding yesterday and actually steamed my Willi. I even set to on a small shed this morning but didn't allow for the thickness of the wood when gluing the back. Think it is time to resuscitate Fairway

PS love the Cricket, mine is rather drab in comparison and the wrong scale!

I am very pleased with Cricket. It was second hand and apparently received a Royal Mail handling service although I reckon the seller sold it because it had taken a tumble.

When I got it I removed the archaic R/C system and fitted a Deltang set up with a new battery and sound. It has now become my first runner before my live steamers (and can even pull a dead steamer!).

It needs a paint job though, something like this:

Love the old coach Tom..and the cricket looks great…would you do the lining yourself or get a full repaint and change the colour…

By the way Tom, I do realise that the paintwork looks good on your Cricket…

Your line looks great Tom! I love the clutter that seems to be scattered around everywhere, it adds a lot to the ambience of the railway.

I think simply painting black the frames, running boards and grill would make a huge difference to your Cricket.

Made a start on the frames (test patch):


I rubbed the original paint down and then painted using Matt black with a brush.

The wheels have been chemically blackened and make a big difference.

You can see the shine on this loco in this picture well, it's too toy like for me so will have to go.

The Cricket looks great Tom. It's the little touches that transform a locomotive.

The black wheels and frames will make a huge difference. I agree about shiney paintwork, but I haven't had the courage to tone down my live steamer yet!

Army Painter do a nice anti shine/flat varnish. I still can't bring myself to part with my Cricket.

A lovely model of a Polish diesel in Narrow Gauge and Ind Review this issue. Funny how one picture can inspire you to get building garden again.

I would buy another Cricket if given the chance. They have excellent slow running capabilities with the power to haul a dead steamer.
