They're a couple of cuties, what are their names? The dear old lab looked like he can take them or leave them :D

Sorry to hear about Mollie, always a devastating loss to pet lovers (we are never 'owners').
Milo seems to know the score!
Also, shame your neighbours aren't more understanding, time to be thinking more about that intended move to a better place with greater scope, the additional family members will thank you for it I'm sure!
The best things in life are free.... so why am I doing this?

This is Roly:

And this one is Forest (not sure why he was named that, he is quite switched on!)

They have settled in very quickly but I still need to introduce them to the garden and railway.

Back to the railway, it took a few attempts but I finally got the colour I wanted for the crossing. I need to get some white primer for the sign, I will touch in the lettering and sign frames with black:

I have painted the bottom of the planking as well to waterproof it.

What is the ballast that you're using? It would appear to be too small to be pea shingle or horticultural grit and in my view looks quite realistic size wise.

That does look good, I really must start something here. Like my railway you have spots that go to nowhere, where does this go in your minds eye? My "big house" and tradesmen entrances are all off scene but I know where they are.

To me it goes to a highly hedged country lane that leads to a small village where it never rains :)

It's 3mm fish gravel, it's a good compromise.

The colour suits what I want as it gives a coastal feel like the RHDR (not far from where I live as well):

The crossing started off as a way of hiding the uncoupling magnet so as to where it goes I have not really thought about it.

I think it would need to be a low relief tunnel to mimic a passage in a rock face maybe.

Does look good and simply painting the bottom row of bricks on the wall in brown/green/grey or even black would go a long way towards making it less obvious that it goes nowhere.

Back when we were discussing atmosphere I had it in mind that your line had a Dungeness-y feel - perhaps a cross between the RHDR and the Rye and Camber tramway... Using only the best DNA from each parent, of course...

Andrew

PS the crossing's looking good!

Toned the roof down as it was too plastic looking even though it is plastic!

I don't like the colour of the concrete foundations of the water tower either so trying to get a colour I like (you can see the lighter colour on one of the corners).

It's been very hot lately so can't be arsed with railway stuff at the moment, not even running...

Tom, the colour of your edging timbers look about right for concrete - at least, it does on my monitor!!

Be interested in what colour you end up with for your concrete. I've still not found the ideal paint mix; I tend to make it too dark. Some slabs of concrete seem to be almost white.

Hi Tom,

Here are a couple of photos of the paint I used my old N Gauge stuff. The concrete it was used on was for a quarry and also a garage base that was in progress of the workers building it.

The photos show what I used for differing shades of concrete.

Unfortunately I cannot for the life of me remember where the heck I bought them from. They were a set of 12 I bought a couple of years ago. It may have been Airbrush Heaven, but I think they have stopped trading for the time being for testing on new products apparently.

These are the two paints. They don’t have a makers name on them.

This is the paint on a piece of slate, the Stone Gray one hadn’t dried completely.

Dried.

And this one has been mixed about 60/40, it all depends on what shade you want really.

Sorry I can’t be more helpful, but I hope this will give you some idea on what you can do with different paints.

Marvellous how cats always manage to find the coolest or warmest places dependent on the weather.

Those colours do look good Rod.

I am mixing various Humbrol enamels so when I find what colour I want I shall report back. These also waterproof the wood unlike acrylics.
