Whatever colour you choose Tom, make sure it's a suitable wood preservative that will protect your timber, not simply a coat of paint that will trap water in and rot the wood from the inside!
Don't ask me how I know this.

"Smith! Why do you only come to work four days a week?

Creosote?
Ideal for that authentic wooden sleeper niff. It would go well with the delightful pong from coal fired engines.

If at first you don't succeed, use a bigger hammer!

Don’t go back to the Creosote debate Jim lol.

Re: RWLR - Robin Wood Light Railway
To see your faces if I did painted the wood Cuprinol 'Berry Kiss' or 'Sweet Sundae'
It will be a Cuprinol colour as other parts of the garden are painted using the same which I believe is 'Muted Clay' but cannot remember.
I would like to apply a contrasting colour but apparently you cannot do that in a small garden, so my wife tells me.

That looks nice and tidy. It brightens up the corner of your garden well.

Re: RWLR - Robin Wood Light Railway
I need to paint the platforms at both stations now I think as they look a bit grim.
Masonary paint should be fine but don't want it to look too new.
Any recommendations please?

Re: RWLR - Robin Wood Light Railway
Tom - if you are talking about the platform surfaces, I use DIY roofing felt - gives a nice quite fine tarmac type surface - depends what look you are after - others will have other ideas I'm sure - tried coffee stirrers earlier but warped and popped in places - although the goods platform has survived over year outside and that used the stirrer approach
Where did I put that uncoupler?
Re: RWLR - Robin Wood Light Railway
That undercoat looks good, sweet sundae on top?
I mix my own grey masonry from a tub of white and a tub of black bought years ago. Lasted better on my concrete than the concrete

Re: RWLR - Robin Wood Light Railway
Using any colour masonry paint Tom to make it look old, i put as it is nearly dry, some old engine oil or sieved soil rubbed into the drying paint, makes it look old really quick. I would try it on a bit of concrete you don’t need and see how it looks for you 1st.

Re: RWLR - Robin Wood Light Railway
I bought myself an early birthday present and this evening put it together. The trouble with plastic models is mould lines but I have tried to file and hide them with textured paint:
The buffer stop plate is a piece of metal cut and bent into shape that will rust over time.
I need to add additional colours to weather but it looks better than the original gloss brown when received out the box as can be seen in the sleepers.

A nicely detailed piece Tom, and happy birthday for whenever it is!

That’s about the same as up here in Longton Tom, although it’s cleared up a bit now
