The building itself looks fine, size-wise, and the newness will soon weather down.
The platform looks a bit narrow for it though, 'elf n' safety would have things to say about the clearances to the platform edge, but not much you can do about that.

I did think that Phil but if I place it at the other station on the loop you can't see the interior as it will face the other way round.

It would only take minutes for you to recess it into the fence and your neighbour could enjoy it too! On the other hand perhaps you could reduce the depth a little?

I agree with Peter, Tom. Just a cm would draw it back to about right for me.

Love all the signs, I would have had them on my new line….And the crossing is brilliant, great things those Lollipop sticks hey Tom….

If only my neighbours were interested in garden railways we could have one large line running through each others garden's!

The 'inspection' went well on Thursday so the railway is acquiring new staff next week (I didn't say anything about trains did I?):

These two young moggies (I have already started calling them 'The Boys') are taking over pest control duties from my very much loved cat Molly who I lost last year due to ill health (Milo is still with us fortunately):



In other news the RWLR works are in talks with the WHR (Andrew) about a reworking of their Russell so she may be paying a visit to Kent for a little while. Looking forward to playing with a larger loco on my line!

Also, shame your neighbours aren't more understanding, time to be thinking more about that intended move to a better place with greater scope, the additional family members will thank you for it I'm sure!

They have settled in very quickly but I still need to introduce them to the garden and railway.

Back to the railway, it took a few attempts but I finally got the colour I wanted for the crossing. I need to get some white primer for the sign, I will touch in the lettering and sign frames with black:

I have painted the bottom of the planking as well to waterproof it.

What is the ballast that you're using? It would appear to be too small to be pea shingle or horticultural grit and in my view looks quite realistic size wise.

That does look good, I really must start something here. Like my railway you have spots that go to nowhere, where does this go in your minds eye? My "big house" and tradesmen entrances are all off scene but I know where they are.

To me it goes to a highly hedged country lane that leads to a small village where it never rains

It's 3mm fish gravel, it's a good compromise.

The colour suits what I want as it gives a coastal feel like the RHDR (not far from where I live as well):

I think it would need to be a low relief tunnel to mimic a passage in a rock face maybe.

Does look good and simply painting the bottom row of bricks on the wall in brown/green/grey or even black would go a long way towards making it less obvious that it goes nowhere.

Back when we were discussing atmosphere I had it in mind that your line had a Dungeness-y feel - perhaps a cross between the RHDR and the Rye and Camber tramway... Using only the best DNA from each parent, of course...

Toned the roof down as it was too plastic looking even though it is plastic!

I don't like the colour of the concrete foundations of the water tower either so trying to get a colour I like (you can see the lighter colour on one of the corners).

It's been very hot lately so can't be arsed with railway stuff at the moment, not even running...

Tom, the colour of your edging timbers look about right for concrete - at least, it does on my monitor!!

Be interested in what colour you end up with for your concrete. I've still not found the ideal paint mix; I tend to make it too dark. Some slabs of concrete seem to be almost white.
