Re: Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan
It's a bit silly. More to come...
I spent a couple of days digging the weeds and tidying up the permanent way, while the shunter trundled round (for the first time) at very slow, scale speeds —without incident, until I decided I should film it for a few minutes.
Of course, this has been grossly exaggerated in the resulting video, which has become a brief taster for the forthcoming epic (which I haven’t done anything about so far).
Re: Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan
Most amusing! I hope nothing was damaged

Brilliant, laugh first thing in the morning is what the doctor ordered..
Love the colours and finish on the loco too.

In the garden, something stirred..
I watched this, as the latest 'use the train' ad was playing on the TV...
The music was quite appropriate!

Re: Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan
Thank you. It was all OK. I grabbed both, as the loco collided with the phone, fearful something was going in the pond. I may have had Lonsdaler’s gravity train, pond story at the back of my mind.
Re: Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan
I did wonder about the significance of the sound effect which ended the video .....

Re: Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan
All's well on that front - still works over 12 months on! I must let Chris Rennie know that his gravity train is submersible

Cheeky tank engine and coaches. What more could I want?
Now posted to 'Videos' is Semi-scale BR: the fantasy, Southern Region branch line, again, a few minutes with the coaches that began this thread, being pulled and pushed round the garden by most of the (battery-powered) steam fleet, at last.
Here's a GIF to promote it.
Cheers!

Re: Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan
It goes!
I’ve stuck a couple of large lead ingots over the bogies — and it runs pleasingly smoothly.
It was time to finish wiring up the 33 and give it a go. Switching it on and fiddling with LocoRemote, you can imagine my surprise when the front, directional lighting glowed bright red (and I haven't done any rear lights). This is despite having retrieved the LEDs from an envelope clearly marked (in my own hand) ‘3mm, 3v clear white’…
Here’s a picture (below) but as you can see, the red LED doesn’t show red in the photo. But they have before. Weird, huh?!

Re: Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan
Fantastic..
No idea about why your led is a different colour, but it does run great.

It does look good. Nice idea to make it an animated gif

Re: Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan
And at last, the Class 33 makes it round the garden (with wagons), though without functioning directional lighting at present (see above*), in another noisy video, now posted in Videos > Semi-scale BR: Class 33.

*It WAS me who mixed up the LEDs and labelled them all incorrectly, of course.
Cheers!

Re: Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan
On a barely-related tangent..
This reminds me of the time my father fitted red LED tail lights to one of his R/C cars. He switches it on: It's pink! We didn't know they even made those.

Branch line, BR Standard mogul revisited
Please excuse the self indulgence here. I’ve been toying with this for years, and now an opportunity has presented itself.
Here’s the short BR 2-6-0 sequence from the recent ‘branch line steam’ video (see ‘Videos’) with previously abandoned shots reintroduced (there were mismatched frames-per-second, ‘jerky’ editing issues). But now it features a glorious Bach soundtrack, turned up to 11 in celebration of, erm… the magnificence, the grandeur… of the garden railway experience, I suppose. Cheers.
You could also see this on my website, where you won’t get bombarded with tiresome advertising ('...it's taking the UK by storm') or get ‘profiled’…

Refresh the browser, if anything doesn't load. Looks best on a tablet, I'd suggest.

For some reason, it does not work on the Smartie-Phone?

Re: Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan
Nice clear video that Bertie, although I am not a lover of music being played when people do videos of their loco's, I turned the sound down, but then I lose slightly the sounds coming from the loco, but it was still a very enjoyable video.
The yellow flower that was hanging by a spiders web looks just like a fairy, would be great in our Fairy Wood line.

Uh-oh. What doesn’t work Phil?
And thanks, Rod.

Followed the link, to a page of numbered entries/videos..
Clicked on 17,and it opened a larger version of the thumbnail. But clicking the 'play' icon did nothing..
A download of the mp4, did allow me to watch it though.
I blame the Chinese, and the Smartie-Phone!

Re: Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan
Hi Bertie, I had issues viewing it from your website too. Using a Samsung Galaxy A8, I can get about a minute in and then it just locks up! Fortunately I was able to download it and view it direct - great stuff! Very stirring
