Thanks Tony.
Never done it with a large scale layout but more times than I can remember with 2mm and 4mm. Brings back happy(?? ) memories!

That's quite a bit of work you're putting in there on behalf of the hobby. Thank you.

How often do you expect to take it to an exhibition? I imagine you wouldn't want to do it too often.

35 years ago, when I was one of a team of three 16mm exhibition railway modellers, we did just the same with a 25ft x 10ft layout.
Working full time, loading, travelling and setting up on a Friday, showing for two days, breaking down, loading, travelling, unloading on Sunday evening/night. Monday morning return the rental van and off to work again..... somehow we managed that at least 8 - 10 times a year for many years.
How you can still do it in retirement Tony is quite remarkable, I wouldn't do it again myself.
The best things in life are free.... so why am I doing this?

I used to have an 0 gauge 7mm exhibition layout built to fit into a metro for transport. After an accident the metro had to be replaced the new one was a Rover kensington same body just different badging. I had an exhibition booked fairly local and intended to set up early on Saturday. So about 6am I started load the car and at this point discovered that if wasn't just badging the rear seat had been moved back two inches. Those two inches meant the layout wouldn't fit! So I was scrabbling around for tools to remove the rear seat! I got there just in time to erect the layout but the initial running to check was done wirh an audience.
Happy days though.

I do admire the effort you must put into exhibiting the layout

Hi Don,

How often do you expect to take it to an exhibition? I imagine you wouldn't want to do it too often.

Over the last 32 years we have averaged 4/5 a year. Mostly we have help erecting and knocking down the layout.

Take care.

Tony.
