So while the rain has held off I’ve made a little progress building up a retaining wall for the garden/ rockery that will have the large timber trestle bridge through it. The shed wall to the right will be the raised section where the top yard/ timber mill/ loco shed will be.

Out of interest Dan, what species of timber are you growing on the property for harvesting.

That’s only a fraction of it. We are very lucky, although it does have its down side.
Our road is that bad mountain goats refuse too use it.
We just had heavy rain and was flooded in for 3 days, but we have been cut off from town in previous years for 2 weeks, and then there is the bushfires..
we have mainly spotted gum, as well as some red gum.

Ok, Due for a bit of an update. Have been busy building retaining walls and fixing posts too attach shade sails ect. Hard work in this heat but will be a lot more pleasant once done as I will have to protection from the hot summer sun.
Have been building some rolling stock also.
I got some kits from Houston gate locomotive works for Christmas and they have come up very nicely.
I now have a total of 3 flat wagons, two closed vans and a brake van. Next I think I will buy some log bolster kits.
I’ve also purchased a battery powered diesel locomotive from I.p engineering that I’m currently setting up for R/C . It’s not far off done and will take some photos once it’s completed and running .
I think the work outside on building the line is going to be slow going I till the cooler months arrive as it’s been bloody hot here, and I work 4 days a week as a truck mechanic which is pretty hard work and often outside or on site so it really takes its toll during summertime .
Might venture out and take some photos of some rolling stock this evening when it’s cooler and post them in here.

It's terrible the way life gets in the way of important stuff, like garden railways!
Look forward to the pics when you get the chance.

Took some time for a few photos of my rolling stock on a temporary bit of line out in the garden today. Still working on the I.P engineering diesel , it’s a generic design call ‘dotti’and I’m adding some heavy brass as frames to give it a bit of a Malcom moore look and mainly to add weight and adhesion . Will post some photos once it’s near completion

Very nice. I like the weathering on the vans, especially the one next to the flat wagon.

Thank you, it’s actually my first attempt at weathering . I found it very easy to over do it.
Re: Shannon creek timber mill tramway
I too like the look of weathered rolling stock, and your wagons look spot on to my mind. I do like a mixed goods train.

Looks good to me.
Have you used oil paints on the rolling stock for weathering or a wash of some type?

Re: Shannon creek timber mill tramway
Not sure if this is how it should be done , but basically I gave them a spray with red oxide primer from the hardware store, then made a couple of washes , comprising of humbrol model paints and thinners. Had to be careful as the thinners made the red odixde bubble if you get too carried away. One was a black wash and other was a earthy brown colour. I then gave them a good coat of tamiya Matt clear to finish it off
