Felt I needed to post this photo so you can get some idea on how far I got before my unwanted visit to the hospital this last week.
At the top end of the garden, it is only going to be about 5’’ high, mainly because the garden going to the back of the house is roughly about 12 to 18 inches lower. If I had the top end of the line at waist height, by the time it got to the back doors, we would need a step ladder to see anything….well not that high.

But until i get some R&R the track laying has to stop. But I am able to do my wagons and the little battery loco I have now. So I will post an update on them when they are finished.

A temporary pause Rod, that's all. Taking inspiration from your track laying I might put down some some temporary track in my garden to get things up and running. I can rebuild sections on a more permanent basis over time. At least that way might be the way to get somewhere that I can run trains when I like.

You can Ian, it’s a simple step to take, because if it doesn’t look right you can then alter it to suit has it starts to grow.

And like you say, you can run trains whenever you want to.

It saves you fuel money too….I’am not a tight person honestly…..

Well, with the help from a Son-in-Law, the line is now completed to a point.


Has you can see, it does need tidying up a bit. The Son-in-law did this while I was making some visits to the Hospital for some short stays. I thought he did a great job, seeing has he hasn’t attempted anything like this before.


I helped with the bridge part of the track and with his help, we layed the track and Anne ran her Tram around it, while I was on a visit. I will get her to let me have a copy of the video she took.



This is the completed top end of the line.

In due course, I will put Anne’s Slate Mine by the top end of the fish pond and also there will be some more track to be laid too. I haven’t made my mind up yet has to what I will, but I have some idea of what I will be putting on it.

But that is all in the future, Anne wants me to at least get myself a bit more stable with this flipping heart of mine, so I am only going to be doing some building and some more rolling stock. I do have someone making me a few slate wagons, so when they arrive I will post some photos and possibly a video of “Patricia Anne” pulling some stock also.

Thanks for your replies guys. It was a case of getting someone to do most of it for me, or us not having one finished until at least the end of the year, possibly even longer. But on the health side I am feeling positive, just need to take my time and rest every now and again.

It wasn’t that easy to get the Son-in-law Peter, honest. Anne had to bribe him with offers of Bud’s and plenty of Burgers…

I am now doing mostly rolling stock and building, but hopefully I can get to run something and maybe do some more on the track it self Graham.

Unfortunately Derek, he has now gone back abroad with his cycling job until the end of September and then he plans on having a holiday with his family.

Always tongue in cheek Rod, reckon I'll get by! Got a train fix yesterday as we trudged up a cloudy Snowdon, actually getting the train tomorrow but not building my hopes up to see anything....again...
