Who's lurking under the railway in the first picture? Can't work out if it's a dog or a cat?

She is one of a pair of Welsh Terriers, lovely, lively, friendly dogs with loads of energy. Railway installation consisted of fit one length of track, throw the ball... etc...
The best things in life are free.... so why am I doing this?
Re: Merlins Castle Line
That's a very impressive railway and it's all come together nicely. It will give you many hours of pleasure and repay the effort many times over.

Love the buildings Julie and now it’s all systems go for running your own locos.

Lovely spot for the railway. Difficult to decide which background is real and which is photographic.

That sloping site has given you the benefit of ground level and raised running. Enjoy adding detail to it, that's one of the better parts of this hobby, I feel.
Is the backdrop in the shed a picture of your local view, or a commercially available one? I quite fancy a photographic representation of my local view for just one part of my line.

The picture in the shed was bought from the well known auction site. Type in Tuscany landscape mural wallpaper and you should be able to find it. It just resembled the view behind the shed, so I was very pleased.
Re: Merlins Castle Line
Indeed. It looked a bit Preseli to me, hence my question . Thanks for the info.Just Julie wrote: ↑Sun Jul 15, 2018 11:06 pm The picture in the shed was bought from the well known auction site. Met a friend the other day,, and he handed me a little package. Inside these beautiful turntable locking levers appeared. What a work of art. Amazing hand made. I haven’t fixed them to the turntable yet They were based on an American Narrow Gauge Railway.

Splendid.
It is great to see another 16mm line in SW Wales.
Hopefully mine won't be too long in the starting.........

Re: Merlins Castle Line
In August the South West Wales 16mm Group meet was at the Merlins Castle Line. The project was to make a cliff out of concrete using wire, mesh, bedsheets hessian and cement etc. It now has to be continued around and more layers of concrete applied for it to be finished. The loco was owned by Simon Wood of this forum. A brilliant day, thank you all for coming.

Re: Merlins Castle Line
I like it and love the garage (says a sucker for wrinkly metal)
If Simon left the loco behind and said if anybody wants it they can have it can I be FIRST in the queue?
Is that the beginning of an extension ?.

Re: Merlins Castle Line
Keep us posted on the cliff, with plenty of pics at each stage please. Realistic rock faces are not that easy and I'd love to know how to do it satisfactorily.

Re: Merlins Castle Line
Me too! And I'm second in line for Simon's loco...
The railway's looking great Julie, glad it's working out so well...
Andrew.
Re: Merlins Castle Line
Thanks for hosting us Julie! It was a great day.
My loco running through the town
Passing the crinkly-roofed garage
The Angel of the West visiting Merlin's Castle (no doubt a tour to promote public access to artwork was a condition of funding from the sponsors of this fine piece of Peter Butler sculpture)
The verdant green no doubt due to the rain every time we meet. If there's a dry spell and your garden starts to wilt, just get us to call a meeting of the South West Wales group!
The sequel to Kitten Kong
Luckily I did remember to bring my loco home! But thanks for the enthusiasm. I rather enjoy the slow running that the gearing allows...
