I was hoping it would cut some of the concrete wall sleepers in half, I am disappointed.

Built to last, and carry away the worst downpour you are likely to get!

Nice bit of construction there Dazza. More for MAM to plant after you have laid your track, better be quick though before MAM does her planting...

You'll have so much more room for (shunting) activities now!

Sorry, only just catching up with this thread. Really clever idea to use those decorative concrete panels for the raised bed. The drainage channel is a neat idea too. As with all your projects, you seems to think of everything in advance :thumbright:

No one knows what Mr Spectre's thoughts are. He keeps on marking notes down on his clip board and constantly mumbling into his Dictaphone recorder. When pressed for his views he always replies with 'All will be revealed in my report due to be released late November'. We believe after the strife he got himself into last summer with all the booze and those wild women and the resultant nasty rash he got he is being very coy and subdued at this present time, however there is talk of getting him pissed and getting some more wild ladies of ill repute to occupy him one evening so we can sneak a peep at his note board and play back his Dictaphone recordings.

That is some civil engineering!
It's a good job that you and Trevor are at opposite sides of the globe, I dread to think what the two of you would concoct if you were close together!

There are rumours of a tunnel.

A very long tunnel...

Aye, and low maintenance as well.

Yes, MAM is twitching and itching to get some plants going.
When this is done back to finish off rolling stock, finish off the coal fired loco build and test steaming then tidy up all the details of the railway's scenery including ballasting the track. Make a start next year on the 4 1/2" Foden steam lorry,.
Oh and there is the smaller but not insignificant plan for a steaming bay with turntable to be built next year or the year after.

Yes, but also when we have visitor days it will ease the scarcity of the siding space.

In my next life, with what I know now, I would build the back yard very different , but 10 years ago I had not even seen a garden railway. It would have attractive vertical stone walls, room for 1.2m radius curves..............
We rather spend gold coin and time now to save maintenance hassles later on as we age.

This is fine decomposed granite, it packs down hard just by walking on it and so often used for walking trails here. It will provide a stable bed for the concrete track bed, but we will scrape it out where we need some depth for the garden soil.

Had to get another 1/2 cubic meter of decomposed graniteto finish and give a bed for the form work/ boxing. Later it will be caved out and the plan is a shallow valley and heavily forested area in the corner.

Captain Plod just had to lay some track down to get an idea of what is planned.
The far end will continue on behind the back of the shelter awning to a separate steaming bay area to remove congestion in the narrow walkway, but that is a project for next year.
No work will be done this weekend as Plod is off to Gympie to be let loose driving at the Mary Valley Rattler.
