No Tom, it hit the Tram that one of the grandsons tried to put on, no damage thankfully, but because I had my camera on a tripod and Anne and her Daughter where stood next to me I couldn’t see it hitting the Tram...lesson learnt though, stay in visual contact lol. :thumbleft: :thumbleft:

Good to hear no damage occured, so easy for children to see delicate (and expensive) models as toys and things to play with, not a good mix!

Lovely to hear the grandchildren enjoying it :D My Harvey is 15 months, loves the garden but indifferent to the track so far. He is showing tendencies to push wooden cars so slowly but surely we are getting into transport.

Your’e right there Peter, but to be honest it was my fault I left Anne’s Tram on the track near the little water feature and the youngest Grandson wanted to run it on the main track, and again he did ask me a couple of times if he could run it, but i was so busy trying to get used to the controls for β€œBilly”, well the rest is history. Still no harm done and I am glad the boys still want to run trains, I am hoping in years to come they will persuade their Mum & Dad to get a line laid in their own garden, which is huge by the way.

Today hopefully I am going to try to get some wooden stepping blocks down by the track near the garage to help stop the lawn getting damaged, all depends on this great British weather lol.

Derek, the Grandkids love anything to do with trains has I do, I think I have mentioned before that I made them a small 4x3 N Gauge layout nearly 2 years ago now and they are always playing on it, the oldest one has even made some trees from scratch to put on it...brilliant.

Get him some wooden trains to push instead Derek...lol.

I'll be murdered if I go down the brio route...already got Duplo, Vtech and Playmobil. That said I did buy a wooden brio type train at Perrygrove the other week so it would be rude not too.

Lovely to hear a youngster interested in actually building things, keep it up :D

I will try my best, but he doesn’t need much encouragement though, he loves messing about with the scenic side of the layout, as well has playing with the trains. :thumbright:

A word of advice if I may Rod, from experience I know that wood blocks and planks can become extremely slippery when wet and might cause a problem when set into your lawn. Possibly ornamental slabs might look as good and perform better?

Thanks Peter, i have got something sorted and hopefully i will be able to post some photos later of them.

In the meantime i had a little run of β€œBilly” yesterday before we went out for meal with the middle Daughters Birthday. Had some trouble trying to get her fired up, don’t know why, took ages, over one and half hours, took out the gas jet and cleaned it out with a blast of gas, putting it back was an heck of a job, i seemed to have moved the connector from the gas tank ever so slightly, getting it back just has it was...well it wasn’t clean air in the garage i can tell you....lol.

Some photos of her running on the line, taken by Anne, she did fine job considering so is left handed,( no problems with left handers ) but she kept on putting her left hand over the sensor on the camera eyepiece, so it thought she had put her eye there and the flip out screen kept on going black, bless her, she got it right once i explained it to her.

That's a lonely looking loco out there, needs something to pull?

You thought about double tracking your line Rod as it looks quite simple to do on your layout and would add interest as you can run electric and live steam at the same time.

Steam engines can be temperamental beasts this is why they are referred to as 'She'.

I do have some rolling stock Tom, but i just wanted to see if i could get used to the controls on the Tx, it’s still new to me so i thought just about running her first for a few times. :)

What is double tracking please Tom, i did run the tram and pickup when the Grandsons were here with my live steam. :)

Double track, build two loops so you can run two trains on their own lines.

Has promised some photo’s of the stepping stones for the garden, I was going to lay them side by side, as they are advertised by Homebase has railway sleepers, but I got these cheap from a store in Southport that is closing down, only Β£3.48 each...I think they will be ok, they are rubber, so hopefully no slipping issues.....

If those are made for the job they should be much safer in use than timber. The enhanced grain pattern will help with grip.
