Re: Small balcony garden railway
Hi Egor
I love that railway, its great, very cute and goes to show you don't need a huge garden to enjoy your hobby. Loving the turntable, I assume its hand made just for your line?
My only one concern would be the lack of a buffer stop on that line where it looks like a loco could run off the end of the track, is there anything there to stop that?
You have done fantastic work and if it were mine I would be extremely proud

Thank you for your kind words!
No, that turntable available commercially. Produced in Germany by Modell-Werkstatt Heyn. Site:

At the end of the way (near the unloading ramp) two miniature stop block are laid, which perfectly prevent accidents. By the way, I use one stop block to accurately stop the locomotives on my small turntable. Everyone knows how difficult make accurately stop a live steam locomotive (even equipped with radio control) ...
Stop blocks I also purchased in Germany:

I did not wait for the weekend and made today a small video with a locomotive 4 (Bowande Falk). I apologize for the extraneous noise, our house is located not far from the busy street and the main railway line.

Lovely video Egor, No 4 does run nicely. Now we need shots of the nearby railway!. Can you see it from the apartment?
Re: Small balcony garden railway
Thanks!
I hope the admin will not be very unhappy if I make a little offtopic and post the photos I made this morning on the way to work. I apologize for making them by a mobile phone camera.
If I look left from my balcony, I'll see the railway ....
Suburban train to Moscow
Our local station
Occasionally (about once a month) an excursion train with a steam locomotive arrives. There are the photos from last winter:

Отлично. я люблю это!
Re: Small balcony garden railway
that's an impressive locomotive thanks for sharing the pictures I bet you get a lot of snow
Re: Small balcony garden railway
An excellent little railway. You have really made good use of the space. I notice there is space for extending the line along one of the walls if you get planning permission from the other half of your household .....

Thank you Rik!
Yes, I sometimes think that it would be possible to extend the way after the unloading ramp. But probably here it is necessary to make a removable part, so as not to complicate the use of a folding table.

Hi Egor,
You could add a photo background for some added realisme. You have white walls around your layout which undo the amount of detail and love you put into your layout a bit. You could make a backdrop on thin wooden panels, or print a photo on aluminium, like on county gate railway, and it will immediately give your railway a lot more realism. If you make those panels removable, you won't have problems with your wife about it..

Thanks for the advice! I hope that this idea will be realized someday.
I would like to add facades of some buildings, I think this will greatly improve the appearance of the railway.

A new dramatic scene on my layout: the worker tries to remove the log that fell during loading.

Great looking scene - I like pictures that tell a story.

I always wanted to have signals on my layout. But the chosen theme - early American logging, did not leave a large choice of signals. The only suitable signal is a red highball. I thought about it creation for a long time. The October 2017 issue Garden Railways magazine gave impetus to construction from available materials. Let this signal not quite scale, but I like it. Now there is a signal regulating the locomotive's departure from the turntable.
Signal closed:
Let's go!

Re: Small balcony garden railway
To make my little railway more "garden" I added a couple of potted plants to the base. For this, I was drill a couple of holes for the pots in the wooden base.
In the pots grow the Ficus benjamina with the Soleirolia and the Fuchsia with the Soleirolia too.
