Lovely work on leveling out the yard jake! Looking forward to seeing more progress on your lovely line and maybe with one of my locos on it soon!

Re: North East Victoria Railway
Big update but dont let that fool you. Nothing has really been happening here! After 3 months of slog my car has finally been sorted so I can return to the Garden
Apologies for the mess, there were some concerns raised about the MK2 W class print (modified from Mk1 to have the correct number of windows) being too narrow, this was correct, the extra 2mm in width makes quite a difference in length and height! the only train to run apart from the odd test, the MM is ready to depart the top station with its new timber wagons in tow seen here rounding the horseshoe past the new lawn ornament... My latest design successfully printed, the side for a SAR V class van. Victoria and South Australia shared a lot of designs and this seems to be a narrow gauge version of a common wagon apart from gluing some more details on the Mt Lyell conversion of the LGB box van is now complete Deja Vu! Dads #9 meets a friends #9 that was in for RC installation Not my railway or my model but i did knock up the axle box/springs for these bogies (any guesses as to what theyre for?) on the printer and Im extremely proud of how well they turned out! Should be a superb model when its finished.
Till next time
Jake

All looking good Jake. Those axlebox units are superb, you have every right to be proud of them

Great update Jake. Agree with those bogies, they are brilliant.
Can you do a powered bogie?

Re: North East Victoria Railway
Alexander (Melbournesparks) has used an axle hung 12v motor bought off ebay and ive been slowly developing a 3d printed mount for that purpose so the answer is yes, hopefully soon!
Thanks for the kind words gents

Re: North East Victoria Railway
Finally got home before the sun went down last week and managed to have a run
The MM is seen running a empty car movement down to the workshops
I've recently begun converting all my bachmann wagons to tie them together a bit more (company colour scheme) and to try and Australianise them a bit, this includes moving brake wheels, removing grab irons, removing uncoupling levers, repainting in the railways colours and soon hopefully lettering and possibly 3d printed brake gear.
Shunting onto the wagons
Waiting on a continuity and the green
rounding the curve out of the yard
Grinding up the highline
Cresting the grade into yard limits
For anyone wondering how small the MM actually is...
A friend lent me his Newquida Harz loco while I installed some RC gear into one of his locos, impressions are mixed but it was some fun at least!
after running light engine down the hill
The next day i managed to snag another day off early and #14 had a run! it ran quite well but some settling has caused the grade to fluctuate a bit in places (which is expected) but its also brought to the fore exactly how garbage bachmans stock pilot truck arrangement is (it could barely haul 3 cars up the hill when the MM had no problems with 6!) so that will be rectified sooner rather then later although id like to clear a few more projects off the bench before it gets a look in- Attachments

What is under the tarpaulin in one of your photos if you don't mind me asking? (rolling stock looks good in uniform colours).

I was wondering when someone would ask, Ex Queensland Railways Fairmont M15 434
Long term restoration project, it'll eventually run at the Bellarine railway in Queenscliff.

Re: North East Victoria Railway
I cant remember if i posted photos of the DH being transported to the railways workshops for assembly but it has finally happened!
everything is 3d printed by yours truly riding on two Hartland Mack motor blocks. Internals are Deltang although im going to have to do some investigating because for some reason it has a range of about 15cm regardless of transmitter.
after first assembly with a temporary roof 3d printed for the weekend. its still missing glazing, handrails, cowcatcher and lights Coupled to the transfer train ready to go to Rays for his annual CFA fundraiser at speed on the trestle running down the final straight into the yard. Its first proper run was a success although it was hampered a bit by its scale sized fuel tank hitting on point motors and power feeds. some quick work with Rays dremel and it didnt have a problem Towing Melbournesparks's Sentinel steam railcar. this project was started not all that long ago and has come along in massive strides.this is what the bogies i posted earlier were for, I wont put in too many details incase he wants to do a build log here but its a spectacular model that ran extremely well. towing the Sentinel up the grade. Based on a bit of a mix of Tasmanian and Western Australian prototypes it has the ability via a 2 speed gearbox to freewheel and become a standard (although very heavy) piece of passenger stock. All the prototypes in Australia ended up having this fate and surprisingly quite a lot of them still survive in this form including 2 at the Bellarine railway in Geelong where I occasionally volunteer.
There has been a bit of progress on other projects so hopefully I can update the thread with those soon too.

Hi Jake,
That DH looks good, I guess being re-gauged doesn't help but that fuel tank does look vulnerable. You seem to have grasped 3D printing well.
Grant.

Re: North East Victoria Railway
Thanks Grant, every project is better then the last but theres still a fair way to go with improving the quality of my prints. I've just bought a new printer so hopefully I can push it along a bit further in the next few weeks. The models actually 1:24 so correct scale for the gauge, I knew it was close but it didnt have any problems at home so as usual these things only rears their head when there is two manual live steamers bearing down on you
