That does look superb and very realistic. Loving the furniture....

Looking good Sylvian. Interiors in my buildings are inferred rather than modelled!

Re: The G&DLR begins.
Mine are imagined (apart from one building - the coal merchant's office - but the window is so small you can't see anything inside anyway)

Re: The G&DLR begins.
I have to admit, apart from the signal box, none of my structures have interior fittings. With the roof permanently attached, the windows small and the distance from viewer is taken into consideration, I see little point.
The best things in life are free.... so why am I doing this?
Re: The G&DLR begins.
If you can't see any fine detail, I'm surprised you can see a little point?
Sorry, I'll get my coat!

Re: The G&DLR begins.
That's a fair little point
The main reason is that I'm planning to light them up and I'm not a fan of seeing buildings lit up that look like empty high street shops on a night.
It's a question I've been asking myself about the other building I'm working on, the station masters house. I was thinking of fitting a half decent interior but this was an effort in itself and we'll see if the results speak from themselves. But I also plan to add curtain netting so what went from aiming to add an upstairs bedroom turned into just adding a living room and now I might just add a chair and simple fireplace just to give a hint of life there eon a night and again that's why I'm doing it as in the summer I've enjoy watching the sun set and seeing the light come on and see something in the signal box.
But again, it's my model and I turning it into something more and on that note I've managed to build up the fittings whilst be allowed to play in my room this afternoon.
Again some of it might be seen - others might not but I'll also make the roof removable so I'm hosting on the line (if I ever do).

I personally like to see stuff inside buildings. Our Fairy Wood garage has a bench in the workshop and desk and bookcase in the office. Both of which are lit by battery. Most of all Anne like to see buildings that are lit up, it goes well with the magic of the FWLR line...
I do like the furniture you have made, the phone is brilliant.

I'll second that - all the items you've made are great. Is that books for the shelf that I spy?FWLR wrote: βMon Aug 16, 2021 8:19 am I personally like to see stuff inside buildings. Re: The G&DLR continues
It certainly is!
There's the finished articles. The work wasn't are arduous as I would have lead to be believe a few years back.
The book were just off cut squares of 5mm foamex, painting with a crazy assortment of Vajello paints I've collected on my travels and the open book was 3mm foam board filed down the middle with a half round file.
Personally I just feels it fills out the model more. I find it surprising what can actually be seen even when stood from a relative distance.
I've managed to glue everything in now and just waiting for it to dry, I'm going to add posters to the waiting room then focus on the exterior.

Re: The G&DLR begins.
I wouldn't do it myself, but you have made a wonderful job of it, and with interior lighting I'm sure you will be proud to show it off to your friends.

Re: The G&DLR begins.
That is superb.
I can totally understand how satisfying you find it. I get great pleasure out of fiddling around with things like that myself, even if nobody else ever really sees it.

Re: The G&DLR begins.
I just think they are fantastic, even more now that you have detailed them. Brilliantly done. Can you try to let us have a photo with them build lit up please.
A couple of not that good photos of our Fairy Wood Garage.

Re: The G&DLR begins.
Nice!!!
I particularly like the leaning and stacked books - just like my shelves at home...
I was thinking of your building as I strolled to work this morning, debating whether or not to detail the interior of the guards van I'm currently working on...
Andrew.

Re: The G&DLR begins.
Your interior is a lot more detailed than the interior of my coal office.

Re: The G&DLR begins.
Not wishing to hijack the thread even further, but this triggered a thought in my mind, so I just went down the garden and, for the first time in I can't remember how long, I bent down and looked through the Lower Bench waiting room windows... the fire is still burning after 4 years of 24/7/365 operation! The only thing is, the flicker in the flickering LED's seems to have died and it's just plain orange now.

Those books are superlative. You will have fun getting folks to look through the windows, and it will be worth their while
