The Leawarra Nayook Railway
Re: The Leawarra Nayook Railway
Great photos, Grant. Somehow, you always seem to get the light just right. Do you generally try and take photos early or late in the day?

Beautiful clear pictures, always well staged for best effect.

A few shots from today's run with the Hunslet. Full sun but a cool breeze showed up the steam for once.

Great pictures, Grant
I'm sure you've posted some before, but I don't recall having seen the trestle before

Nice as always, Grant.
I love the view of the watermill in the background through the trestle, makes it seem more 'real' somehow.

Oooooooooooooo!
I just love it when Grant posts more photo's. I really feel like I'm there when I look at them - almost to the point of smelling warm creosote and steam and hearing the escaping steam from the loco's over the noise of the countryside surroundings.
Thanks Grant, you've improved my day no end!

Re: The Leawarra Nayook Railway
Thanks Fella's, much appreciated.
Started some overdue maintenance today, some may have noticed that the wood stack outside the Crib room, and the goods yard ground levels at Nayook have taken on a bit of a lean. Problem, the stakes and sleepers forming the wall have past their use by date (been there 30years). Whilst I can't get out because of this stage 4 lockdown we are in, I found enough timber to start standing the wall up straight and re setting the levels in the goods yard. Further down towards the Crib room will have to wait until lockdown is over.

Photo number 4 is the charmer for me Grant. I can just imagine the chat between the driver and the linesman.

Beautiful pictures as ever Grant. Always posed thoughtfully and looking natural in the landscape. Less is often more.

Re: The Leawarra Nayook Railway
I've just spent two and a half days doing nothing but shunting trucks and Pass. stock around Leawarra yard. Two engines in steam, amazing how long gas and water last cut right back. Engines also look good just sitting in the sun with a wisp of steam at the safety. Only time an engine left the yard was when the Bagnall hauled all the stock back up to the shed last thing today.
Very enjoyable.

Great to hear you're taking full advantage of the excellent weather at the moment Grant. Theres something very relaxing about just sitting and shunting.

Sounds like an ideal 2.5 days to me ......LNR wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2020 7:29 am I've just spent two and a half days doing nothing but shunting trucks and Pass. stock around Leawarra yard. Looking forward to the day I can do just that, in a sugar mill yard setup. Sounds you had an absolutely marvelous time.
