Hornby: A Model World

Post by ge_rik » Fri Dec 24, 2021 3:51 pm

Has anyone else been watching the Yesterday TV Channel series about Hornby?
https://uk.hornby.com/community/blog-an ... -yesterday

Episode 5 is on the Yesterday Channel tonight (Friday) at 9.00pm and all episodes are available to stream on the UKTV Play website.

I find it fascinating. It's not exclusively about model trains as Hornby also still manufactures Corgi, Airfix and Scalextric. Each hour long programme (minus adverts) generally covers the research, design, development, testing and release of a particular product with additional background material about Hornby, Airfix, Corgi or Scalextric modellers / collectors. Although (of course) manufacturing is now done in the Far East, it's still interesting to see how product development is carried out.

Yes, I've watched them all. Overall very good I thought, especially the actual info about Hornby itself, although some of the inserted layout building items made me cringe a little - no excuse, in my eyes, for buildings that aren't embedded on an indoor layout, for instance.

The loco's with the steam mechanism were really impressive, as was the tillting APT.
