Hello!
I'm not a member of the Lynton and Barnstaple line, and I've only visited once, but I do admire what they've achieved, and their ambitious plans for the future. With that in mind, I've just made a small donation to their appeal to purchase Bratton Fleming station, one of the original stations and one they'd like to return trains to one day. They'd put in an offer when it first came on the market but were outbid - and now they have a second chance.
It's a great opportunity for them - if anyone other narrow gauge fans fancy chipping in, the details are here: https://www.lynton-rail.org.uk/story/br ... ds-bratton
Cheers,
Andrew

I just looked at the website and guessed that "Rik"must be you!
Unfortunately another offer's been made, so it looks like they've missed out again - they're hoping that it falls through when the searches reveal that there'll one day be steam trains running feet from the window!
Cheers,
Andrew.

Re: L&B Bratton Fleming appeal
I found it a bit disconcerting to get an email from David Cameron thanking me for my donation......

Rik,
You are probably aware already but it's not 'that' David Cameron.
If they've been beaten to the post again that's a shame. returning to Bratton is someway off but an occupied station would make it very difficult when the time comes. If they can secure that site there is very little in the way of occupied property blocking the path to Barnstaple. That's not to say there are no challenges, there will be plenty of those!
