Back to steam

Post by Peter Butler » Sat May 18, 2019 9:38 pm

Yes..... I'm back to steam, but not as we know it!
I guess it's the Emett influence again but I have a part of me which can't resist making something new out of odd, and generally, old things. The word 'Steam' is only part of the title, the other is 'Punk'.

Steampunk is an inspired movement of creativity and imagination. With a backdrop of either Victorian England or America’s Wild West at hand, modern technologies are re-imagined and realized as elaborate works of art, fashion, and mechanics. If Jules Verne or H.G. Wells were writing their science fiction today, it would be considered “steampunk.”

So here are examples of my own contribution to the movement.....

I think the hat might be suitable for me but I would have to think more carefully about the skirt, black stockings and high heels..... as they say,' you don't know until you try!'

Seriously, though, some interesting constructional challenges there, Peter, plus a fair degree of creative thinking. Clearly your talents are not restricted to plastic as a medium.

I think I first encountered Steampunk playing a computer game when I was even younger called The Chaos Engine.

If you watch the intro it has nods to Steampunk:

For me retro games are nostalgic, however, I don't touch a computer when I get home from work anymore!
