I was supposed to be cutting a concave surface for the dome base. But I got my maths reversed and produced a convex surface

We had just coasted down the return curve after another marvellous ascent and then the cylinder gently fell off...

Seriously can happen to anyone Dave. At a guess as the cylinder oscillates, its been unscrewing the pin. The spring seats gripping on the face perhaps.

This is what happened when I tried to hastily rearrange the wood store to make it more photogenic for his visit - it's lucky he wears a hard hat! Kind of him to take the brunt of it too, largely sparing my nice new bolsters...

Oh snap! I had a good one too yesterday

New loco running happily, then the coupling pin lifted and the loco started pulling on the gas line. The loco dragged the gas cylinder off the flatbed and was skidding along the track until it dug-in, and pulled the gas line off the cylinder, fire out. The loco was still chuffing along and the gas cylinder was happily discharging into the atmosphere. No harm done, I just need to keep an eye out for the coupling pin riding up

Wow Greg, they are some really nasty, horrible ones there. I would have been crying for days....

I think we have all had those disasters. My Grandson did it with my Billy on our very first line and I was horrified at the time...It's like riding a bike don't you think, "you can't ride one until you fall off"

I put together a short video of some of my crashes over the years.

Ouch! Makes me feel better about some of my mishaps though - I had 8 out of 10 wagons on their sides at one point yesterday!

When I assembled a pair of Brandbright hopper wagons I wanted a slightly wavy edge to the steel side as though they were battered. I couldn’t work out how to do this with the supplied laser-cut plywood sides so went to some trouble to make up styrene-sheet replacements before using a heat gun on them to distress them slightly. The first (furthest away from camera) was a catious attempt and captured the effect I aimed for; the second (nearest camera) suffered from over-confidence when a few seconds too much heat concertined the side instantly.

The narrative is that it took a tumble down an embankment, but I am sure that HMRI would insist that it would be retired. However since they havn’t visited since the opening inspection . . .

Arn’t they mandatory before approving a line for re-opening. Slow but steady progress is being made prior to the cutting-the-sod ceremony on the Rylston Light Mark 2.

I have seen worse on the Skip wagons that take the building rubbish away.

Great job I feel though and they do look well weathered...
