Mamod traction engines
Re: Mamod traction engines
A 51 quid bid paid dividends last Sunday. The pressure valve was leaking but a trip to Forest Classics produced a valve, new drive belt and a washer for me bung hole for the princely sum of £13. Incidentally he should be holding Regner locos at some point. All this and only 3 miles up the road
PS discovered slow mo on my phone so had to play with it ...

Nice one. A wish fulfilled. Now you can re-enact the scene from Titfield Thunderbolt.

I always like a shop where the owner doesn't sell you things you think you need....i asked for a new piston assembly and he advised a few runs with steam oil first. I've got a feeling he was right.
Beautiful 5" gauge live steamer there.....if only....

Is the piston plastic?
I bought a Lorry (SW1) for my Grandson and the plastic piston is a very poor fit. All the condensate blows back over the side of the cab instead of up the chimney.
Mamod have offered to look at it, but it will be easier for me to turn a new piston in brass, than pack it all up and post it back, probably at my own expense.
Edit : - Mamod appear to be offering to send a new cylinder set for me to fit.

Sorry to have missed your comment, on holiday! Glad to hear of decent customer service from Mamod. I am enjoying the debate on the tram loco on another thread. I do sense that their construction methods seem a little old school but perhaps that's part of their charm?
