All the fours

Post by Peter Butler » Sun May 06, 2018 8:12 pm

"There's a train at four four" said Miss Penny,
"four tickets I'll take, have you any?"
Said the man at the door, "Not four for four four,
for four for four four are too many!"
The best things in life are free.... so why am I doing this?

It's taken from a visitors book which belonged to my great grandparents and each of their guests were asked to fill a page with something.... a poem, sketch, etc... Those were the days when there was no TV or other distractions and people were encouraged to talk, sing or play piano when visiting friends.

My great grandparents and family..

It seems there was more creativity and artistry in those days...

Obviously an artistic gene in the pool there Mr B.

I seem to recall two entries from a great uncle in my 18th "visitors" book

2ysur2ysicicur2ys4me and another that probably wouldn't pass muster in this day and age....

I remember a slight variation on this - told to me by my grandma if I recall correctly

PS - shall we let them work it out or tell them?

I can read and understand all but the one I recognise most is the last from Rik. No doubt there were variations.

Actually, the written version I've seen previously goes:

YYURYYUB
ICURYY4Me

That should make it a lot clearer ...... ;) :?

 More than my brain can handle all of them…I did get Peter’s original post after reading it twice, but it started to go down hill after that…..

Your Great-Grandparents & Family do look fine indeed. And the art work is superb Peter.
