Is anyone else trying to negotiate the minefield that is the new DP act?
I have spent three hours this morning trying to get through to the helpline. Eventually I got to speak to someone who was being most helpful until after 5 minutes we were cut off.....
I am doing this for the model engineering club that I am Secretary of, thankfully some one else is sorting it out for my parish.
If anyone one is involved in a small club or society it is worth taking at look at whether or not the Act will apply to you.

None of it is overly complex, however the point has been raised by a few people that claims of non compliance are an easy way for individuals to cause trouble with an organisation if they so felt the need (disgruntled ex-member etc).
At least I could spend a few hours keeping up with goings on here while I was waiting for someone to pick the phone up.

I think many people are looking forward to not being able to have their work email on a personal device, I know I am!

Even 'not for profits' organisations like your model engineering society will have to register if you have CCTV for crime prevention purposes. I'm involved with the process for my mountain rescue team, and we've been registered under the old DP act anyway. Even so, it's providing something else that is making many question the whole volunteer ethic
