Who has got snow then?

Post by Big Jim » Thu Mar 01, 2018 12:08 pm

Down here near Llanelli the parrots are calling in the palm trees and the pale blue sea is lapping at a white sandy shore.

Snow?
What snow?

Thats strange Jim. Down here in Luxor we've got plenty of palm trees, plenty of sunshine but no parrots and definately no snow!
(Our commiserations to those who are affected though)

Ahhhhh.

I have spend the afternoon fielding calls from various individuals and groups asking if various things are happening due to the potential snow. We currently have a light dusting.
Most of the calls have been along the line of.
"Hello is the xyz group meeting this afternoon"
Me "I don't know, have you called ABC who runs it?
"Yes but they said to ask you"
Me "why?"
"Errrrmm....."
Me "do you think anyone will come?"
"Well (lists entire membership of group) are not coming"
Me "It sounds like it's cancelled itself then"
"What happens if some one changes their mind?
Me "?"
"Shall we cancel it then?
Me "Well if no one is going then that might be a good idea"
"ABC won't like that the xyz group always meet on Thursday afternoons"
Me "you said that ABC wasn't going to go"
"Yes but the xyz group has never been cancelled before"
Me "look, I have to go because my other phone is ringing."
"I can't belive that you have cancelled the xyz group........"

Here is a picture of the FBGR today - no trains - being near the coast we don't usually get any snow, so even this little bit is special.

Gloucester is burried, plenty of snow on the road to make it extremely dangerous! Try and give work a go...

Here in West Wales we have had enough snow to cause severe disruption on the roads. People from the remote rural areas have been isolated and others have sensibly stayed at home rather than risk becoming stuck. However, today we have returned to normal Welsh weather..... persistent rain, which we are used to and can cope with. Also, the temperature has shot up to a very comfortable +5 C. More snow forecast for Wednesday.

Mid-60s (F) here today. Was warmer yesterday. I'm allergic to that white stuff... one reason I'll never return to my native Canada.
