Did the earth move for you?

It has been all over dratted FB. My mother rang up to see if we were all okay. The local plod have put a message out to try and stop people calling 999.
Anyone would think it was the day of judgement.

Re: Did the earth move for you?
About a year ago I was eating breakfast at a local restaurant when a 5.8 rumbled our area. The bevy of Mexican gals in the kitchen went to screeching like it was the end of the world. I just quietly sat eating watching the power poles swaying to and fro, the building shaking all around me as I was half laughing at their antics for the 2+ minutes it was active.
When I came home I asked the wife unit if she had felt it knowing that it was her habit of sleeping in on Saturday morning. She had slept through the whole thing.

Felt nothing here in West Wales, however, several years ago when I was at work in Birmingham I was on the third floor which shook quite alarmingly. When I rang our security control room to find out what was happening, they were unaware of anything happening. The height must have magnified the movement I guess.
Also, when I was working in Japan for a few weeks, surprisingly I never felt any tremors, despite the fact they seem to get dozens, if not hundreds of small quakes each year.

The best things in life are free.... so why am I doing this?

Nothing around here.
A few (quite a few) years ago, when I was working in Wrexham, we had a tremor. I was walking down the corridor at work when everything started shaking quite violently. It was as if a train was passing nearby, but somewhat exaggerated.
The only other time I experienced one was at home. It was about 7.00am and I was still in bed. I felt nothing but things rattled on the dressing table. It wasn't until I heard the news later that day that I found out there had been a tremor.

I grew up in a mining area. When I was a kid creaks, bangs and shudders weren't that uncommon. It became less frequent once attention turned to the deeper seems but the overlying geology still 'grumbled' from time to time! We rarely achieved anything like 4.8 but it could make you jump sometimes.
