Momentum Gear box.

Post by Tony Bird » Fri May 29, 2015 12:08 pm

Hi,

At the last CMES open day I found that the kiosk was selling some friction toy locomotives. They were made from plastic with a die cast body and when pushed the boiler rocked back and fore.

I thought it would be fun to fit flanged wheels to one.

After some chopping of the chassis, the result.

However a more practical use of the gear box might be.

The existing axles are just long enough for '0' gauge so the gear box could be used on a small wagon.

A piece of K&S 1/8" aluminium tube was used as a sleeve so the Binnie wheels could be fitted to the axles.

Regards Tony.
