Home made flat bed wagon

Post by andysleigh » Sun Nov 25, 2007 10:42 pm

this is a flat bed wagon i made, i bought the bogies from Binnie engineering. the bed was originally going to be the canopy roof for my wilesco showmans, but as it was to thick, i used it on this insted.
for the side girders, i was originally going to use Plastruct H Bean sections, but as i found some old u shaped metal bits in the shed, i thought i might as well use them, as they didnt cost and they are metal, so if would give it some weight. without them it was very very light, i am supprised it stayed on behind edrig.

thanks matt.

next i plan to build somthing similar to this
http://www.rhhfranks.co.uk/sm32%20website/WDS-33.jpg
useing the same style of bogies and girders.

then after that !
an open top wagon similar to
http://www.rhhfranks.co.uk/sm32%20website/wdc.jpg

as they are so simple and fast (2-3 hours max for each) to make, i shall make a few.

all specially made for edrig

I also fancy some War Department stock to go behind my up-coming Simplex, there's an advert in the 16mm Acossiation magazine, so may go for some of those.

No, his Edrig that's in the book is called 'Lucy', I belive 'Chippy Joe' must therefore be his other?

It's probably much better to use the metel pieces on your wagn, becuase that'll give it more weight. You can always add a litle more weight later on, if it's too light.

I'm making some stock for when my Edrig comes. ATM, a IP Eng. MOD gaurd's van look-a-like (home-brewed!) and perhaps some bogie coaches with the 2 pairs of bogies I recently aquired from the bay of e!
