HGLW J coach..first pics of mine compleated..

Post by jay1976 » Tue Jun 24, 2014 11:40 pm

1st pics of my J coach from hglw..
If anyone wants to view it in the wood or see it then contact me or see them in action soon at open days
Some of you may have already seen this on facebook, david hippy aka hglw made with help from my dimensions 3 coachs for me that match roughly in size to my tram, they also match the other locos he has.. he designed them i just agreed in sizes..
Roof missing in the last pics as i only glued it temporary in first pic to show fully built..
He does plan to sell these as well so if anyone is intreasted in 1 or several contact him directly on his web page and he may do a few more for you before he gets the time to add them.. They come with glazing and metal door handles, his usual metal wheels and very simlar wagon chassis, mine were designed to have just plain buffer beams so i can fit my own buffers but he may in final ones he sells come with his wooden centre buffers.

Must make it clear I dont sell for him or make any money from him or anything like that..

Great to see a 'J' coach built by the originating customer, as I'd previously discussed it with David at the Peterborough show.

Looks like we may have some healthy price matching competition soon, with AnDel about to release a new range of laser cut wagons & coaches.

Just seen that your carriage design is now on the http://www.hglw.co.uk/ website for easy ordering.

I have just ordered the LB1 Loco and FB1 Flat bed wagon, so I need to complete those before I purchase a Carriage :)

Very smart. I must investigate laser cutting. There's a place in town which does it if you take drawings along.

Cutting

Post by dhippey » Tue Feb 03, 2015 3:52 pm

Hi Rik, (and everyone else)

HGLW do custom cutting of your artwork too if that helps.
Cost depends on complexity and material. Drop a mail to us with your ideas hglw@eagleassist.com

We cut kits for other manufacturers too. Let us know if we can help.

Regards,
David H.

That's really useful to know. What format of drawing is required? I have a drawing package which exports into all sorts of formats. Just wondered how the cutter knows which lines are cuts and which are surface scores.

Drawing format

Post by dhippey » Wed Feb 04, 2015 12:18 am

Hi Rik,

.dxf is easiest, but I can work with several file formats. But they need to be converted to .dxf format in the end.
Different colours denote different depths of cut.

David H.

Out of curiosity what are your colour-depth standards?
I always worked with black for cut and red for engrave.

Colour choice

Post by dhippey » Wed Feb 04, 2015 12:51 pm

It doesn't matter Zak. It is easy to see from the outline colour which is which, many folk use black and red or red and black reversed.
For ease use Black for cut and Red for engrave.

If required you can have additional engraved lines of different depths denoted by a different colours. Just enclose a note with the drawing. It would also be part of the dialogue between ourselves and the customer too.

Hope that helps.
D.
