Another new ANLR coach

Post by laalratty » Thu Jun 26, 2008 9:07 pm

Hmmm it appears that this scratchbuilding bug has well and truly got hold of me. After building 8 coaches in two rakes of 4 I thought I would be happy with that but no. The 4 wheel brake vehical for my A set has never quite looked right, the beading is diffrent to others in its set and its about 2mm taller (by accident) than the rest of the set. So im building a new short bogie brake to the same design as numbers 5 and 6 to replace it. Already I have a floor, the ends and partitions and have started on the sides. By useing the same design as 5 and 6 I havn't had any drawings to do- thank goodness :D
BTW, the 4 wheeler will probebly be for sale upon completion of the new vehical if anyone is interested.........

Well despite my other projects, the coach is comming on quite nicely, the first side is on and the third class seating will be done when it rains (this is my wet weather project when I can't get outside) The beading has been applied to both sides, and I shall soon be buying the duckets, bogies and couplings etc from IP

Well this is one project I worked on whilst on holiday in Wales so the carriage has now gained a (removeable) roof and steps.

Image
The bogies were just placed under the carriage, although they will be fixed in place very soon, to be followed by painting of roof, steps buffer beams and fixing of other parts like couplings. The novelty will be getting the lighting fitted and working, not something i've done before
BTW, the photo was taken on an MOD flat waggon in Minffordd yard on the Ffestiniog railway

Well again your going to have to wait to the launch for any more pics, but work has carried on this vehical. The glazing has been glued in, as has some of the interior detail that has been patiently waiting for some time to be fitted, including little sepia pictures of my railway and the Talyllyn railway for the first class compartment. Amazingly, the lighting appears to be going to plan, the first circuit for the tail lamp works, and all of the LED's for the interior lights have had their resisters fitted and tested. Still awaiting fitting are couplings, vacuum pipes and painting of buffer beams and steps.
