question about paint for my rolling stock.

Post by bungle80a » Thu Feb 21, 2008 4:44 pm

Does anyone know the nearest colour matched paint to Welsh Highland Railway (North) carriages?

I have real issues with getting a good finish using a brush. might it be worth spraying?

I think it's a crimson lake, I could see if it's possible to get a little sample sent to you?

What type of brushes are you using?

Erm, i dunno!?! Whatever brushes I have handy! But I could really do with getting some new ones! It has been quite a while since doing any painting and I was quite new to 16mm and model building in general!

If a sample is possible, that'd be great. Planning on using the WHR(N) livery for my carriages.

You can see the picture now...

The first train runs into Porthmadog from Caernarfon alongside a train from Blaenau (excuse my spellin if it all wrong) and the clever lil sod on the platforms like 'Those coaches are different shades of red!"

D'oh!

I'd say so, I've sprayed various bits of my rolling stock and it generally does give a better finish. You should be a bit patient and wait for a day with the right weather conditions, though, or you may end up spoiling the finish...then again, I've never followed that advice and my stuff seems to have come out OK!
