Rolling stock of the SVLR (Swansea Vale Light Railway)

As my stock building is starting to progress I thought I would create a post to show my adventures. I have almost completed my Brake Van which can be seen here.
https://gardenrails.org/forum/viewtopic ... 39&t=11269

I have started weathering and adding decals, here is the almost finished wagon.

Today I started to draw a simple box van, I have already cut the 3mm laser ply parts and glued them together using medium Zap and Kicker. The design was based on the brake van, slightly shorter with different framing layout. I plan to laser cut my own axle boxes on this one instead of using bought in resin ones.

Sizes are width 98, length 190, height 150.

The roof will be 1.5mm birch ply on a frame similar to my brake van design, curved rain strips will be added before painting. Doors will be cut from 1.5 mm ply and glued internally. Axle boxes will be laser cut from a mixture of 2mm and 5 mm acrylic. I will be using some Swiftsixteen steel wheels and axle mounts that I had in the spares box. Buffers on this one will be Brandbright ones as I have a few spare. I do plan to model my own and 3D print them on future designs. Brake detail and other bits have yet to be designed. Not sure on colours yet, I might use wood stain and paint the roof, or spray colour for the main body with some weathering.

I a bit busy over the next week so production will be on hold for a week or so.

Once this one is complete I plan to make the following:

Open coal wagon
Curved top covered open wagon
Livestock box van
3 compartment 4 wheel carriage
Observation car based on the same chassis as above.

I do like your decals and I think you said you made themselves?

Any chance you would be up for printing out some for members for a price?

Bit of an update on the Box Van. Finished assembly a few days ago. Gave the whole van a few coats of grey primer rubbing down lightly between coats. The main van was given a couple of coats of battleship grey. I then masked off lower chassis and sprayed it matt black. I laser cut the fake axle boxes from 2mm Acrylic in 3 layers glued together to form the details. Wheels are from swift sixteen and buffers are Brandbright all other details are made from scratch. The roof at the moment is sprayed with appliance white.

Johnathan,

Your builds look very neat, crisp and workmanlike. The box van is particularly lifelike. Well done!

Been a bit busy so not had much time to tinker. Test ran the brake van today on the track. Its almost finished, the interior is coming on, I have 3D printed a stove with a built-in LED and almost finished the rest of the interior. Pictures to follow of the interior.

Been experimenting with Fusion 360 CAD app, today I have made a roundhouse style buffer and a coach door handle. Going to 3D print them tomorrow. In the meantime here is a render of the buffer. The buffer is not based on anything in particular.

I am building a 4 wheel coach based loosely on a GVT one, will post some pics this weekend.

If it looks exactly like that 3D printing then you will be a rich man!

LOL, not managed to print yet as someone else is hogging the printer with a really big print. Cracked on with finishing off my first Binnie Granite wagon, painted with cheapy rattle cans, details added using acrylic artist paint, rusty added using some Citadel paint with an odd name, and weathered with Humbrol weathering powder.

Also did a bit more work on my semi scale scratch built four-wheelers in GWR colours. The main body made from ply, seats ply frame with coffee stirrer planks, swift sixteen buffers and wheelset.
