Just another wagon?

Post by Peter Butler » Sat Nov 07, 2015 8:35 pm

At this year's National Model Railway Exhibition at the NEC, Birmingham, an LGB wagon will have a special display because it has done something a little different.
This ordinary LGB wagon has been posted to garden railway operators all around the world and run on their railways. Each in turn has added their name and included extra mementos to commemorate the event.
So far it has travelled approximately 36,000 miles.

This sounds like a better effort than the Jack Wheldon Memorial Wagon, which started its tour in around 2008 - see http://www.theoaks.ca/transferwagon2.html for the beginning of the saga!

Stacey Baker did a similar thing with Mini Stacey and Mini Al who travelled from the UK to Australia and back again, at least. After they vanished for a while I managed to find out who was holding on to them and they visited me. They then visited a few more people and vanished again, and nobody seems to know where they are now. :(

I like the fact it has been signed by people all over the world.

Anyone noticed the LGB train on the Aldi crimbo ad?

According to the list of sites visited (not specific) there were 46 railways or other venues in the UK and the only one listed for Cheshire was in 2011. I guess that was yours Rik?

Am I right in thinking that they also superimposed it into that station shot with the ladies about half way through?

Not sure. I'm almost certain it came here in 2013. In fact, I seem to recall I put the name of my railway and Feb 2013 above the sliding door but for some reason the date  has become erased.

EDIT: Just found the photo on the GSC forum
