And up the annoyingly unavoidably steep gradient on my little line

Very nice, the sound is very industrial, as for the steep gradient, didn't really notice it.

Not only looks good, it sounds good too. What sound unit are you using?

It’s the 30:1 12-24v one, running on 12v. Pretty cheap and seems reliable so far apart from some bolts coming loose while bedding in.

It’s a mls light diesel sound card with a 50mm speaker mounted in the rear section via an old aerosol lid sealed with silicone.

Got distracted by another project briefly but finally got round to wiring in the led for the lamp and making a lense, I think she’s finished for now!

Love it. The warm white headlight and weathering really tie it all together.

What a lovely looking loco. And powerful too. I wish I had your metalworking skills! Good job, well done.
Hope you don't mind me asking, how did you achieve the rivet detail? Also, what method do you use for bending the brass for the bodywork? Thanks!

Rivers on the bodywork were done with a little tool I made up for my pillar drill, it’s essentially a rivet shaped dome on the end of a bit of round steel which fits in the drill chuck and a corresponding hole in a piece of Ali that clamps to the table, brass goes between the two and you stamp them one at a time. Bend were done on a borrowed sheet metal folder, it’s about 2ft long and designed for steel up to 3mm so the thin brass didn’t phase it much!

At work at the moment and don’t have a photo of the tool, but that’s a piece of the bodywork before bending
