It's got two slide switch mounting points, so is it to carry a battery pack and charge point?

Possibly not self propelled.... maybe a trailing power truck?

HuH!! you've actually got space either side and at the back of your work piece Jim.
If that was on my bench it would have junk on all three sides, or more than likely be sitting on a drawer slid out from under the bench because there isn't any more room. :lol: :lol:

just realised after I posted that your question is in the Locomotives Electric section hahaha so maybe disregard my last two guesses. mmmm that rectangular hole is intriguing.
