Interfacing sound cards with Deltang receivers

Post by ge_rik » Wed Aug 02, 2017 8:06 pm

Having now installed sound cards in all my locos (apart from the next two on the work bench), using a range of commercial and home-bashed systems, I decided to put together a guide to interfacing Deltang (and/or RC Trains) receivers with various sound cards. I hope some of you find it useful. Although I've double checked it, there will no doubt be some errors, omissions or lack of clarity. If you spot anything, let me know.

Great blog Rik, adding sound is now on my list of things to do. Do you mind if I ask what software you use for your schematic diagrams? I use Fritzing for my detailed circuit diagrams but I would also like to produce diagrams similar to yours.

Thanks

Michael

Hi Michael
Thanks for the feedback - glad it's helped.
I use PowerPoint. The drawing tools are easy to use and you can save any slide as an image (in a range of formats).

Another one to try as a DIY sound system is the dfplayer mini:

Plays mps or wav files from an integral micro sd card via a serial interface or separate trigger signals. 8 ohm speaker output. They are about £8 on Ebay from UK or £1.12 including postage from China/Hong Kong if you can wait a couple of weeks.

Again another excellent Blog Rik....Just a shame that all the diagrams and info gets lost with me :( :(
There is so much information for people who have the confidence to try all you have put in your Blog. Think I need to have ago at doing something with all that info, but the cost of messing up, puts me off.......

Think I need to go on an electronic course to see if it can make sense to me..... :?
