Roundhouse 2015

Post by laurence703 » Fri Nov 14, 2014 5:56 pm

Currently speaking to DLR Dan on Skype and he asked "I wonder how long it'll be before the Roundhouse 2015 topic appears on the Forum"

The answer is approx 5 minutes...

So! With it being a big Talyllyn year next year I think it'll be something along those lines...
No one expects the SPANISH ACQUISITION!!!

Roundhouse 2015

Post by Hope Mountain Railway » Fri Nov 14, 2014 8:07 pm

Unlikely to be Talyllyn, they've done the most suitable for them, but unfortunately not the most popular loco in Tom Rolt. A look at the RH museum shows it was in production for a very short time relatively speaking. Talyllyn and Dolgoch quite small - not really Roundhouse territory. I hope they don't do them for the same reason I hope they don't do an England Loco. Its unlikely it would be to scale.

An England in 16mm would be like a Mamod in a way and full of charm. Why not try hard for something. Or a Double Fairlie would be something. I know Taliesin was close but the engineering design would be quite an achievement. Go for gold I say.

I think they should do a traction engine.

I think the double fairlie has been looked at but vetoed.
Anything rye and camber or Southwold would give me serious pains in the wallet.

I'd like to see Dylan revived, that was one lovely looking loco in its own right and would also be an ideal candidate for a 7/8ths conversion

.................. and chassis and mechanicals-wise it could be built on a Lady Anne / Silver Lady chassis, as was the original.

Personally, even though it is still a small loco, I reckon they could do a Sir Haydn on a bertie chassis. Many have been done using such a chassis.

I can never understand the logic Roundhouse use to pick locos so I won't even bother guessing this year.
What I don't understand is why they have siad no more Stanleys or Jacks when these are locos that also seemed to be wanted by people yet they still keep making Lady Anne.
I would like to see them bring back the Figi Flowler or another colonial loco.
Cheers, Steve

There´s a coincidence- I was just thinking about "why don´t they rerun Linda?". I´ve been kicking myself for not buying one ever since she went out of production. :(

How about a WD Hunslet folks? Aside from the Baldwin 2-6-2's, it basically gives you all the bigger WD loco's!!
