Hi all,

After some years out of action: Morgan works no. 4 is now back in action

Ex-works

This was the first Garratt made here and originally started life with a PPS oscillator motor in the back bunker, driving the back only. It was originally painted black with red lining and a silver smokebox.

After the arrival of the Locobox Darjeeling Garratt, this one was rebuilt to feature the same cylinders and repainted green. A few years later, the original Roundhouse boiler was replaced by a Cheddar steam boiler; cross-tubed flue and ceramic burner. This made the locomotive quite powerful, moreso than the original "Darj"!
Over the years though the locomotive developed some chassis issues. It was decided that as it clearly needed attention (along with the paintwork) to do a full strip-down and rebuild. Rods, wheels ect were replaced along with all o-rings, electrics and gas valve. We also added some additional details - the mechanical lubricators (Locoworks), new bufferbeams (GRS L&B), sandboxes (home made) and vac pipes were added. It's currently undergoing some testing, gas jets don't seem to be what they used to be!

Coincidentally, the B-wagon was also completely rebuilt. This is its first run as well!

That looks lovely! I do like those little Garratts of yours - I was very tempted a year or two ago when you had some for sale...

You weren't the only one ;).
Shouldn't have hesitated, they have the distinctive Garrat presence without being enormous.
