Baby Garratt mark II and other developments

Post by JMORG » Sat Jul 15, 2017 11:44 am

Hi guys,
Seen running last night is the upgraded baby Garratt.

A version without side tanks is also in development, along with a Mayumbe style Garratt. In the pre-design phase is one based on the original Morgan Garratt; works number 4 (seen on the 16mm model of the month).

All these locomotives are powered by a central SVS steam motor driving the bogies via card an shafts and bevel gears. This locomotive is also the first to use fully lasercut frames, giving superior running characteristics.
Two prototype Mayumbe style Garratt's are currently being painted by Barley pit works, both with a bespoke motor with PPS cylinders and both being for sale. I'll add further information in the future.

Great stuff! I've also been a fan on the 'baby' Garratt's you've shared videos/photos of, very well in proportion. Any ideas of the cost of the locos that will be for sale?
Thanks
Jack

No confirmation of the price as of yet, but they'll likely be approximately £2000
