An idea for a prettier Accucraft dome bolt

Post by Trabant Dave » Sun Jan 31, 2016 5:01 pm

I'm very pleased with my recently-acquired Caradoc and now starting to think about a few aesthetic modifications, having successfully added r/c to the regulator and updating the original installation to 2.4 ghz from the factory-fitted 40mhz unit; I keep looking at the dome-retaining bolt and thinking 'this needs enhancing'....

What I was thinking was getting a length of brass threaded rod and a small brass acorn-top dome nut, thinning the hex base of the nut down a touch and then soldering the two together, the idea being that if properly fluxed that capillary action should draw solder down the threads.

Can anyone see any flaws in this idea before I burn my fingertips/worktops etc. ?
