A boiler for Ellie.

Hi,

Over Bank Holiday I finished and tested the boiler for an Ellie that I am making.

Hey Tony, what are the pipes at the bottom of the boiler for? Are they superheater pipes or such?

Hi George,

They are staple shaped heat exchanging rods made from 2 mm solid copper when straight these are often referred to as hedgehog pins. They increase the heating area of pot boilers and are well worth the effort in fitting.

Looks very professionally made. Looking forward to seeing the finished loco! And a chain drive Ellie - that's an interesting take on the design
