I power my servos using a small 12V supply. The servo board has a built in power converter to the 5V the servos need.
Herewith a couple of photos, showing the installation, and the older now disconnected point rodding, along with a quick video. Apologies for the rough running, I didn't realise my wife had remove a small but vital piece of wood that levels up that section of track!

The servos are MG90s with metal gears. I found you get much less back lash than with the nylon geared ones, so they hold the blades in position much better.
