WAGON HOOKS

Post by FWLR » Fri Aug 26, 2022 5:44 pm

I was wondering if any member can help me with this little problem. I bought some hooks from a supplier, but it was sometime ago now, at least 3 years. I thought I had a good quantity of them. Now unfortunately I can't find the rest of them. They did start out to be longer than in the photo and I cut them down to fit my buffers. As I now have a few wagons built I need a load more of them.

Can anyone help me please. I know I can bend some wire, but when I do they always come out differently and they don't look right. That when I found these, but now it's sending me silly trying to find out where to get them from.

If you haven't already found a solution..

My go-to is screw eyes, cut down with side cutters, then blackened by heating to red and quenching in used engine oil. With a solid pair of needle-nose pliers, the hooks can be bent to adjust the shape if needed.

Thanks Aarron. :thankyoublue

That is a brilliant idea, it has given me some more ideas on how to get/do something similar.
