Can anyone help with technical details of the Leek and Manifold transporter wagons please? Perhaps there are drawings available somewhere, but basic things like length, wheelbase, how many wheels (4 wheels or two bogies) wheel diameter etc? Was there only one design made or different lengths and carrying capacity?
If such an kit could be offered, would there be any interest in buying one?
Many thanks, Peter.

Re: Leek and Manifold transporter wagon
Hi Peter
Not found any plans but the principal dimensions mentioned in Keith Turner's and SC Jenkins's books on the L&M were
Gauge : 2' 6"
Length : 19' 6"
Overall width: 8' 0"
Rigid wheelbase of each bogie: 4' 3"
Distance between bogie centres: 9' 0"
Wheel diameter: 1' 9"
Height of std gauge rail above track: 0' 10"
Width of std gauge rail platform: 1' 6"
Height of coupling: 1' 2"
One of the original five wagons was lengthened to accommodate milk tankers
Length: 31' 0"
Bogie centres: 20' 0"
There are some photos in the books but for copyright reasons I can't reproduce them here but there is one online - https://transportsofdelight.smugmug.com ... /i-qRRsR4C

Re: Leek and Manifold transporter wagon
Many thanks Rik, that is most helpful.
I am aware of the Yatton kit, which looks to be good quality from the image on his site. I have no experience of Yatton kits, so at £60.00 plus the £12.00 postage cost, puts me off taking the chance.

Yes, must admit I've always been wary of the £12 postage charge. A while back, I was interested in buying one of his sound cards, but £12 p&p on something which was going in a small envelope sized Jiffy bag seemed excessive, so I didn't bother. When running RC Trains, I always used to reimburse any excess postage between what was paid and what it actually cost. The way the PayPal site calculated the postage was a bit hit and miss. It sometimes meant the postage charge was less than the actual but I felt it was something I would have to bear.Peter Butler wrote: ↑Wed Oct 21, 2020 11:25 am Many thanks Rik, that is most helpful.
