Thank you for all the suggestions and tips so far, everyone.
Still thinking (and open to ideas). Didn't even get the chance to look at the "site" over the weekend...
MRail - really impressed with that scissors crossover!

Re: Suggestions please: removable ground-level section
I think you are making the track design unnecessarily complicated.
As the stations don't have run round loops end-to-end running cannot be achieved so I would scrap the two stations altogether and the points at the concrete cross over section and have a dog bone layout.
You will have a nice scenic line which will get finished in time for you to run trains before summer is out.

I can guarantee there's absolutely no chance of that timescale, but thanks for the encouragement! (The failure even to do some measuring over a whole weekend is a clue.) But I do have the existing loop - whose completion was a minor miracle under rather more favourable circumstances as regards available time.tom_tom_go wrote: โMon Jul 15, 2019 5:39 pm You will have a nice scenic line which will get finished in time for you to run trains before summer is out.
You're all giving me ideas, so I'm grateful to everyone who's contributed.
And I really appreciate the photos of what's been achieved, and the passing-on of experience. Thanks again, and I hope there'll be more.

So do I and most members on the forum I think.
You do have a line that could be very interesting with loads of potential.
