Post by FWLR » Mon Apr 09, 2018 5:09 pm

Can I use emulsion paint for the building or does it need to be acrylic. :thumbright:

Even with a prior coat of, say, Halfraud's primer, I'm not sure emulsion would weather too well. Not an issue if you don't leave them outside, though.

Hi Phil I would be leaving them unless the weather got really bad, so I guess it will have to be acrylic then and then lacquered hey

Rod, a lacquer finish left out in the rain can cause further problems if water penetrates it. Moisture will cloud the colour surface and not be able to get out once it is trapped inside. A good quality acrylic paint will be enough to last several years.
The best things in life are free.... so why am I doing this?

I would agree with Lonsdaler. I don't think emulsion would weather well outdoors. Acrylic would be my choice.

Thanks Peter, I will put acrylic on. I have had an offer of 10 litres of dark grey emulsion for nothing we are going to use in the bathroom, so I was just thinking if I could use it on our buildings outside.

Just being a bit tight Peter

You could use it inside your shed Rod once the damp dries out ( we're promised 24 degrees next week!!!! )

Grey is very 'on trend" I'm told by Mrs H and if you have 10 litres of it - thats VERY VERY on trend!
Where did I put that uncoupler?

It would be a shame to paint over this with it Mark..

Son-in-law and Grandson George did this while Anne and I was on Holiday 2 years ago.

That was the very first N Gauge layout I did for my Grandsons.
