mixed parcels and passengers

Post by cheshire » Thu Sep 14, 2017 3:51 pm

I have decided to make a passenger momentum wagon (there is a thread on here about freight ones I and others have made). And so need a prototype of a carriage that is mixed parcels or similar and passengers. In other words, it needs to be a compartment carriage kit, with some windows replaced by non glazed windows, so that the part of the mechanism that protrudes into the carriage and some sound deadening foam won't be visible. I hope that makes sense. I am looking for an example of something like that, preferably narrow gauge, but mainline is ok too! Many thanks.

How about one of the Brandbright kits, for example the luggage brake coach PS16. I built one of these a couple of years ago and I found it a joy to build but the important thing from your point of view is that about a third of the coach i.e. the luggage compartment has no windows. I think that there would be more than enough room to disguise the momentum mechanism in this area.
I would post a link if I could work out how to. Not very computer savvy!

I believe Phil mentions this kit from Brandbright:

The Timpdon 2 compartment coach has removable glass windows . Just slide out the glass and insert a blank of painted 1mm ply or card

Some of the early FR coaches had very small windows. This would make the mechanism less visible if you don't want to go down the route of a luggage/brake coach.
If at first you don't succeed, use a bigger hammer!
