Bearings

Post by FWLR » Sat Sep 17, 2022 1:43 pm

Can anyone help me with finding where I can buy these from please. I print my own chassis, but I need the top hat bearings for them.

I've been using these. They come in a packet of 8 and they are cheaper than any I've found advertised for railways - these are intended for road vehicles but are 3mm bore which is the important bit. They are slightly longer but that's easily trimmed off if you need to.

Full length on the left, and trimmed on the driven axle

I got some from Essel Engineering.
I wanted 4mm bore which aren't listed on his website but he said that as he makes them himself he can make them to any size.

Rod, I've just looked again at the photo in your original post and realised that you are showing an outside diameter on the bearing of 2.99mm, which presumably means you want a 2mm bore, not 3mm? In which case of course, my suggestion is wrong, my apologies.
The outside diam. is only semi-relevant, it's the axle diameter/bearing bore which are important.
