Seen the latest on Pullman observation 2152; looks to be similar in style to 150/152. Not sure if this will be easier than Glaslyn?
Unless drawings exist, its harder. I have a plan for Glaslyn so I'm going to sort that out first. If drawings for 2152 land on my desk, I'll be able to look at it and work out if its doable or not.

Great looking models, and I think the shorter WHR stock's a great idea. Might be popular with FfR bogie stock too - I don't think I could run a full-length "bowsider" for example...

Cheers,

Andrew.

Hi,

We're looking at a Shorter version of Coach 16 but nothing has been decided yet.

In other news:-

We're currently looking at what will follow our Sandy River and Rangeley Lakes Railroad Freight Stock. Fortunately, we hold data for two different railroads and we've chosen the Bridgton and Saco River Railroad as our next American Range. We plan to release 4 Box Cars, 4 Flat Cars and 1 Caboose at first. These like our current Sandy River kits will be 16mm scale and come complete with bogies and couplings. We don't have a release date yet but we're aiming for 2020. Prices should be similar to our Sandy River Range.

Image

We're also looking at 7/8ths Sandy River and Rangeley Lake Railroad which will be released around the same time. We're looking at upscaling our 28ft flat car and 28ft box car which will be available in both 32mm and 45mm gauge with Accucraft Chopper Couplings. We hope our models will be the perfect addition to the Accucraft Forney.

What's next Jon? When I've finished with the FR carriages I think I'll need to get some WHR carriages for the NGG16!

What's next? FR and WHR Heritage, Ashover Coaches oh, and a certain C&UR/WHR Combination Coach you've asked about before..........

All the best,

Thanks Andrew! Partly from your suggestion, we're also doing a shorter version of Coach 16 as well! Should be a similar length reduction for that coach as well.

Kind Regards,

Jon

A short FR obs might be another good idea? You could make it similar to 100 (without a guards area).
The combination carriage would be a good one! Hopefully restarting my FR take this Christmas!

I'm waiting to see what happens to the WHR shorties before looking at others. It is certainly planned to do a Shorterned 105 and 102 along with maybe a shorterend 112, 114 and 116 but nothing is set in stone yet.

114 would be too similar to your shortened WHR brake wouldn't it? Was thinking a shortened 100 would be ideal as you already have a brake coach so wouldn't need a guards obs.

Brand new today!!!!! We have 3 releases, a new Catalogue and a new webstore to reveal to you today!

Image

Starting with the new releases, we're pleased to release our 3 WHR Shortie Coaches! Based on shortened versions of Coaches 2020, 2040 and 2090, these coaches are perfect for those who want a WHR outline train but can't fit the full sized coaches on their railway. These are available in both 32mm and 45mm gauges. They are also available in either MDF or Plywood. Priced at only £90 in MDF or £120 in Plywood, these coaches are available to order now! We also have a Multipack of 4 of these coaches available now. We might change this at a later date depending on what you our customers want (This can either grow or shrink as appropriate). Please note, standard Terms and Conditions apply. Check either our webstore or the Narrow Planet website for more information:-

https://shop.bowatersmodels.co.uk/colle ... ie-coaches
https://shop.narrowplanet.co.uk/search?q=Shortie

Image

Now onto something we've been working on in secret, a while ago we used to offer direct sales on our website. This was removed as we were never happy with the customer experience as it was very chunky and very basic. After a period without direct sales, we have now invested in a brand new Webstore which you can order our entire range on! This is available to customers around the world with all appropriate postage calculated at the time of ordering and the new ability to show exactly what we have in stock with ease, this new webstore will allow Bowaters Models to do things we could have only dreamed of before. For example, we are now able to offer the entire range through our facebook page in addition to our website!

Please note, We are continuing to list our range on the Narrow Planet Webstore and have no plans of stopping to do so. Have a look for yourself!:- https://shop.bowatersmodels.co.uk/

Image

Now for something we're seriously proud of, our brand new 2019 Catalogue! Professionally produced specially for us, we feel the new catalogue sums up what we are trying to achieve with Bowaters Models and also a foreshadowing of what we are going to be doing this year and beyond. More information will follow as appropriate but 2019 promises to be one of the best years for Bowaters Models in every sense of the word. Bowaters Models is looking at its Motive power range and working out what’s achievable and what isn’t. As a result, we’ve done some culling of the list to give us room to develop new products. Most of those culled are ones we haven’t announced but this one, we’ve decided to see what the interest in it is before we make a decision regarding it:-

Image
BME-006 South African Railways Class 91 in 16mm scale

To run on two powered bogies (we won’t say who’s just yet but they’re an excellent supplier and already supply us for other engines), the engine will feature a similar design to our RNAD diesel. In that, the engine would feature a laser cut superstructure in MDF with etches for the panels, doors and grills (if cost effective else we’ll do just the grills as etches). We would also include 3D prints for the more complex shapes on the model. We don’t have a price yet but as we know the RNAD will be in the region of £200 (we are buying our 3D printer which should help to bring this down dramatically), we expect this to be in the region of £300 to £400 without control gear. Again priced at current supplier pricing. With control gear, we can’t give an estimate until we’ve looked into it.

These are big engines. They scale out at 556mm long by 135mm wide by 177mm high. However, these are the perfect engines to run with the many Garratts and NG15s that are out there as a Thunderbird or just to run as a battery engine. We’re taking expressions of interest to see if this is viable or not. If you’re interested, leave a comment or drop us a message and we’ll see what we can do! We will also be planning to release a C type wagon which regularly ran with these however that decision will be made closer to the time of release. Thanks to the huge interest in the product on social media, we have booked it into the next design slot we have available with a view to having something to show at Exeter later this year.

On the way and available at Peterborough! The brand new Ashover Coach and Ffestiniog Railway Coach 16!

Image

Both are laser cut kits in 16mm scale. The Ashover coach is suitable for both 32mm and 45mm gauges while the Ffestiniog Coach is only suitable for 32mm gauge due to design limitations. Both are scale models and perfect additions to your garden railway. Priced at £95 in MDF for the Ashover Coach and £90 in MDF for the Ffestiniog Railway Coach. Plywood is a additional £15 per coach. We are also revealing a couple of operational changes.

Image

For the first time ever, we’re delighted to announce we can offer collect at a show for the first time. With a hugely improved supply chain, we are confident we can get your orders ready to collect at any show we attend starting with Peterborough! Any orders placed 3 weeks before the show date, we will do our upmost to ensure you can collect them at the show. As such the last date for collection at Peterborough is the 16th March. This includes anything we’ve newly announced (and trust us, plenty more to come yet)! If you would like any of our newly announced products, drop us a message on Facebook or email us and we sort it out. Any orders placed after that date we will still try but can’t guarantee it.

We also have new estimated turnaround times and pricing regarding our models.

Turnaround times have dropped from 2-3 months for all our kits to 3-4 weeks for rolling stock and 4-6 weeks for motive power. This is due to a change of working arrangements within the business. This is effective 1st April 2019.

We are also releasing our new pricing. For the most part, our MDF prices have stayed the same with only a small number having a increase. Some even have had a decrease! The big change is to our Plywood pricing. Starting today, all kits will have a £15 Surcharge added for Plywood. This is now regardless of model which means the entire range has seen its Plywood price drop. These are effective 1st March. The price list can be found below:-

https://drive.google.com/file/d/15f-3n4 ... p=drivesdk

We hope this will be good news to you and we look forward to seeing you at Peterborough!

Time for the latest reveals!

Chattenden and Upnor Railway Coach 1001 in 16mm scale, SAR Wagons in 16mm scale and Bowaters Pulp Wagons in 7/8ths scale!

Image

First up, Chattenden and Upnor Railway Coach 1001! This completes our Chattenden Range and what a coach to complete it with! Available on both 32mm and 45mm gauges, this coach is the perfect item for those modelling a wide range of areas. Priced at just £85 in MDF or £100 in Plywood. It's available for preorder for collection at Peterborough as with all our new announcements made before the 16th of March.

Image

Now it’s the turn of something larger! Our brand new 7/8ths Bowaters Wagons! Available when we visit the Railway later in the year, the range marks our entry into the world of 7/8ths. Available on both 32mm and 45mm gauges, these kits will be the perfect item for those people looking for a larger wagon for their railways. Available in both Pulp wagon and Flat wagon forms. Price to be confirmed at a later date. The first two will be on the stand at Peterborough so come and see them for yourselves!

Image

With work on our Class 91 progressing well, it only seems appropriate to have some suitable rolling stock for it! Our brand new C and B wagons are the perfect addition to this loco. Both wagons will be available on both 32mm and 45mm gauges in both MDF and Plywood. The perfect addition for NG15s and NGG16s. Priced at £75 each in MDF and £90 each in Plywood, these wagons will be available later in the year along with some other SAR projects. We’re aiming for July/August. In fact, we’ve just green-lighted the prototyping of our Apple Express coaches which will be released at the same time as these!

Come and see them both for yourself at Peterborough!

Swift Sixteen War Department in either 32mm or 45mm gauge bogies. Our own bogie project isn't ready to be used for such a purpose just yet. We'll have more information at a later date when it's appropriate regarding using our own designs.

Something I've been keeping very undercover where it will remain until the time is right, I'll admit its happening but not a lot else. For now at least. It'll surface once a few more issues are resolved. But let me put it this way if you thought just plywood pricing dropping was a good sign, wait until you see what else I'm up to. To say everything is changing this year for Bowaters Models would be about right!

Time for the final Peterborough reveals! The 13m WHR coaches! Covering coaches 2043 to 2048 and 2010, these coaches complete the main WHR Range we will be releasing. The notable exception is Glaslyn which will be available at Exeter all being well. In time, we may also release 2011 if we can get the required technical data. Priced at £110 in MDF and £125 in Plywood, these coaches are the perfect addition to our WHR train and will be available to order at Peterborough. Come and see them for yourself!!!

Image

Oh, and in regard to pricing, that should very much be considered a guide price. We have something special planned for Peterborough that we can genuinely say no one will see coming! Well, these are the final ones we're showing you before the show. We have 4 more that will be revealed at the show. Its safe to say these 4 are highly anticipated.
