Just came across the Timpdon r/c set up I was going to fit in the loco when I originally planned the project. Includes everything you need. Happy to include this with the loco and chassis above as I'm having a clear out!

Such a good price, I am surprised this is still here. I don't have the money, but if I did, it would already be gone.

I might have been tempted if it was 45mm gauge. But do I really need another loco?
Tricky..... :dontknow:

I guess people aren't so keen on building kits these days with so much relatively inexpensive rtr on the market. There was a build article in Garden Rail a few years ago and the writer had made a lovely job of it. My interests have changed and sadly I haven't the time/motivation to spend on this project.

Is this still available, and if so, is it the later kit which I think has a pre-formed tank?

Hi Phil
Yes and yes! Still available and the saddle tank is preformed plastic - injection moulded I guess.

Just checked and the instructions say it's a resin body kit which looks straightforward enough. The article was in Garden Rail No 207 and GRS have thoughtfully provided a copy with the kit. With luck I'll have included some pics with this post. I was impressed with the chassis when I bought it - neatly done and with a nice robust feel.

If I was in the market for yet another loco I would bite your hand off for this one! Unfortunately, I have more than enough to cope with, so it's not for me this time. However, I do have one of those GRS chassis and I agree it is a superb runner and very well made. The motor is rated at 12-24v but mine operates very well on 8 AA rechargeable batteries (9.6v) with no problems.

Mmmm no spare money just yet. Like the others I would be first in the queue for it. I need another battery r/c steamer badly. :|

I agree with Peter ( and others), its a nice simple and easy chassis to work with, although I have no experience of the body kit.
I used the chassis in my 'Octavius' build. https://gardenrails.org/forum/viewtopic ... 57#p119057

May I ask, does the cab or any other of the parts have any warps at all? I bought one of these before (a Pecket), new in the box but secondhand and it was so badly warped I have to build my own body work for it. As you can understand I am somewhat wary of GRS body kits now.

My profile picture is the kit in question, it uses the same chassis (which is great) but the body I ended up making one in brass.

Many thanks

I can't see any noticeable distortion in any of the body components - perhaps you had a poor sample or I have an unusually good one! The build article mentioned some warping of the footplate component. I haven't unwrapped this in my kit but from external examination it looks fine. In any case you can quite easily fabricate the footplate from sheet either in metal or styrene.

Kubes,
Did Steve bite, or has it been disposed by other means? - I had forgotten all about it.

Hi
The kit is still available - here is a picture of the Timpdon r/c gear to go with it. I love these little transmitter units - so much neater and smaller than the standard model aircraft type r/c transmitters!
