Roundhouse Engineering "Atlantic" Live Steam Locomotive

Post by dougrail » Wed Sep 16, 2020 4:35 pm

For sale is my Roundhouse Engineering "Atlantic" live steam loco. These are rare as only a couple hundred were built [this is not the popular 'Argyll', but the retooled and correct-to-scale-model produced 2010-2012]

It is near-pristine condition, having been built in 2010 but was never steamed until I acquired the engine in Sept 2018. In May 2019 it went to Roundhouse for a full repaint (into BS223 Deep Bronze Green) and a service/checkup. Since then it has steamed and ran well but is constructed on a sprung chassis as Roundhouse built back in 2010.

It has of course been steamed a number of times in my care as has been documented on the 16mm Assoc, Garden Railway and other Facebook group pages and while run in has little wear to be seen on it.
The engine is fitted with a Radiolink receiver and handset - 2.4GhZ rc - which will of course be included with batteries included onboard and in handset, in the sale as the engine is ready to steam and run.

The engine has a few modifications, including the addition of a weighting block at the front of the chassis, attached via the buffer tongue holder and has a swivel coupling on the rear to compensate for some of the overhang that this model of engine had. The original buffer will be included for your preference.

Detailingwise, the engine has received a set of Tom Rolt side buffers as the prototypes had these fitted. I have painted the tank tops black, and had more accurate Andrew Barclay makers plates made and fitted. Furthermore I have as per the prototypes, had Campbeltown & Machrihanish Light Railway crests made and fitted these with a coat of varnish over them to protect them. The nameplates were made by Steam Age but are attached with fish tank sealant so could be removed easily if the buyer wishes.

The engine is fully regaugable and is currently set to 32mm gauge. The 45mm trailing axle will also be included for your preference.

The engine will have its original Roundhouse makers certificates, instruction booklet and a steam test certificate for an annual test which was conducted only Sunday 13th Sept 2020.
I am selling as it needs to go to the right home and find an owner who will derive much pleasure from owning and running such a good looking and powerful locomotive as this on a well-constructed line.
Photos are attached. Videos of it running in both directions are available and can be supplied on request. They were taken Sun 13th Sept 2020 demonstrating it running perfectly well at Echills Wood.

Cost of shipping to be met by buyer; or if possibly a Covid-safe delivery could be arranged.

Price - ยฃ1800 ovno

That is a very nice loco indeed. Just wish I had 1800 or near has dam it to buy...It would be a real joy to have it and run. I am getting goose pimples just thinking about it...

Rod - I'd consider a payment plan spread over a couple months if that helps.

Hi Tom, yes it is except since then it has been repainted, detailed, given a better R/C handset and some slight modfications.
