Need some idea with a water tower

Post by mymodeltrain » Wed Mar 08, 2023 7:45 pm

I am building a water tower for my department's art show, which will be next month. This is my own design idea. The water tank is made of PVC material and the rest of the frame is made of metal pipes. I got all the raw materials from Home Depot. But I feel that I need a safeguard fence surrounding the water tank but I have no idea how to start with. Please let me know your suggestions.
Thanks.

In keeping with the Home Depot repurposed materials theme, how about getting some square metal mesh of a suitable size ( garden mesh, or even a barbeque grid) and cuttting a strip which you then wrap around the gallery level of your water tower?

That's a good idea; I will walk around Home Depot this weekend to find square mesh with the appropriate size. I prefer they are thick enough so they don't make scratches like sharp needles.

Quite like that water tower. Looks sturdy too, can't go wrong. 8)
I was also gonna say something like snake mesh. I used some for a railing around a mill chimney years ago, I just cut out every other square with side cutters and cleaned up the burrs with a dremel.

Aaron, that's exactly what I had in mind with my suggestion.

Thanks for sharing the photo, I am going to go to Home Depot now to search for that type of mesh.

I completed the work now, aside from the fence I also installed the brass ladders. Thanks all for your help.

Those ladders top it off perfectly, too.
